Two Cool for Yule Baby Sprinkle & Birthday Party
A Magical Winter Brunch for 60 Guests
When I was asked to plan a combined baby sprinkle and two-year-old birthday party, I knew it had to be something special. The theme, Two Cool for Yule, struck the perfect balance between the cozy charm of winter and the playful whimsy of a child’s celebration. The result? A brunch that felt like stepping into a woodland cabin surrounded by all the enchanting animals of the forest.
The Vision
Every event I plan starts with a conversation—a survey or a call where I take the time to understand what my clients envision. For this party, the family wanted something intimate yet memorable, festive but not overdone. With Christmas just a week away, they wanted their guests to feel the warmth and coziness of winter, as if they were gathered in a magical cabin retreat. Once I understood their desires, I created a detailed mood board that captured the essence of a winter wonderland filled with woodland animals in scarves, snowy fir trees, and a color palette of soft greens, creams, and warm browns with hints of icy blue.
The Planning Process
Finding the Perfect Venue
The venue sets the tone for any event, and for this brunch, I found a space that felt intimate but could comfortably host 60 guests. The natural wood finishes and large windows overlooking snowy landscapes made it the ideal backdrop for our theme.
Designing Invitations and Stationery
From the invitations to the signage, every detail was carefully curated to match the theme. I designed whimsical stationery featuring balsam firs, woodland creatures in winter accessories, and a dreamy, snow-dusted forest. Collaborating with Signed Up, based in Elmwood Park, NJ, I brought these designs to life. They printed stunning posters, signs, and even life-sized animal cutouts that transformed the venue into a cozy winter haven.
Curating Decor and Centerpieces
One of my favorite parts of event planning is creating tangible elements that bring the vision to life. For this event, I handmade the centerpieces, crafting miniature woodland scenes complete with tiny trees, faux snow, and little forest animals. The tables were dressed in soft linens and accented with candlelight, evoking the glow of a warm cabin.
The decor included evergreen garlands, twinkling lights, and playful touches like scarves wrapped around life-sized animal cutouts. Every element worked together to immerse the guests in the theme.
Collaborating with Talented Friends
I was fortunate to connect with two dear friends who added beautiful, thoughtful touches to the event. One created the most charming mushroom sugar cookies, perfectly fitting the woodland cottage theme. Another baker friend crafted moss pretzels and mushroom marshmallows—unique and whimsical treats that added depth and delight to the overall design. These details truly elevated the event, making it even more magical for the guests.
Coordinating Vendors
No event is complete without collaboration. Signed Up’s printing expertise helped elevate the decor, ensuring every piece—from the life-sized animal cutouts to the table signs—looked professional and magical. Their attention to detail brought my designs to life in a way that exceeded expectations.
The Big Day
The morning of the event, I arrived early to set up. Hanging garlands, arranging centerpieces, and ensuring every detail was in place, I transformed the venue into a magical winter wonderland. Guests walked in to find a warm, inviting space filled with laughter and the delightful charm of woodland animals.
The brunch menu was thoughtfully curated, featuring seasonal favorites that matched the cozy theme. Guests enjoyed mingling at beautifully set tables, playing custom-designed games, and capturing memories with Polaroid cameras that added a fun, personal touch to the day.
