Spring Garden Must-Haves: Essentials

Spring is here, and as the self-proclaimed Mediterranean Barefoot Contessa x Garden Girl, this is my season to shine! Living in zone 6a, I had to wait until Mother's Day weekend to start planting to avoid frost. Good thing I waited because it dropped to the 30s that week at night. Now that we're in full garden mode, I want to share my must-haves that I'm using to make the most out of this gardening season. I’ll be linking these items, and I appreciate any support at all by using the links!

DIY Garden Beds: Easy and Sustainable

Creating your garden beds is a fantastic way to start your gardening journey. DIY garden beds are not only easy to build but also allow you to recycle materials you already have. Save your leaves, branches, and cardboard boxes to fill your beds. This method is great for the environment and provides excellent drainage and nutrients for your plants.

Vego Retractable Hose: Gardening Made Easy

One of the biggest hassles in gardening is dealing with the hose. No more unwinding, winding, or wrestling with a bulky hose. The Vego retractable hose makes gardening and yard work so much easier. It's durable, convenient, and keeps your garden looking tidy.

Chemical-Free Weed Killer

As an advocate for a chemical-free, organic garden and yard, my go-to weed killer is a simple yet effective mixture of vinegar, dish soap, and water. This solution is safe, eco-friendly, and gets the job done without harming your plants or the environment.

Bug Repellent: Smokeless Fire Pit

Keeping bugs away can be a challenge, but I have found that having a fire burning nearby works wonders. My absolute favorite is the Tiki Brand Smokeless Fire Pit. It's smokeless, so no gross bonfire smell, and it’s perfect for a quick fire without waiting for it to get going. It adds a cozy ambiance while keeping those pesky bugs at bay. When I don’t feel like having a fire, I use this little gadget, it keeps all the bugs away without any of the gross or strong smelling chemicals and you can take it with you on the go around the yard.

Sustainable Lawn: Clover Conversion

If you know me, you know I'm all about sustainability. One of the biggest wastes of water and energy is maintaining a grass lawn. We've been converting ours to clover, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Clover is drought-resistant, requires less mowing, and is pet-friendly. With two Siberian huskies, there’s always a patch of grass missing somewhere, but clover has proven to be a resilient and beautiful alternative. The seeds germinated in less than a week, providing a lush, green lawn without the hassle.

Spring is the perfect time to embrace the garden life. From building your own garden beds to using sustainable practices, these must-haves will help you create a thriving, beautiful garden. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting, these tips and tools will make your gardening experience enjoyable and rewarding. By focusing on sustainability and ease, these spring garden must-haves will help you cultivate a beautiful, eco-friendly garden. Enjoy the season, and happy gardening! For ease I’ve linked all my garden, yard and outdoor living suggestions for you!
